Fliers

It is clear that India's problems do not stem from bad endowments. We have the best of people, the largest irrigated lands in the world and some of the best natural resources in the world. In each village of India there are people who could easily win Nobel prizes, Olympic medals or lead India to victory as political, administrative or military leaders. If only they were all literate and if only they all had the right attitude.

The problem is that not only are a vast majority of Indians illiterate, the ones who are literate often do not truly understand the meaning of scientific attitude. The scientific attitude means examining each issue with a completely open mind; being able to collect data and to research the topic well, to weigh the various aspects based on the evidence, and to then take the "best possible" decision. A true scientist is always totally open to change.

The VIP therefore affirms its ignorance, first: The fact that what is recommended by us today might be proven to be wrong tomorrow. That VIP will be the first to change when evidence goes against a particular policy recommendation. But given this qualification, the VIP avers that its policy recommendations are the "best." Each policy has been well researched, and only the best arguments known to science (including the social sciences, and in particular, economics), are being promoted. A lot of weight is given to overall empirical findings, i.e., statistical analysis of data across nations, within nations, and across peoples.

Merely because an area is not yet fully known to us, does not mean however, that VIP will not take a stand on that issue. Many issues flow from what is known as "liberal" beliefs. It is clear that there will be controversy on many issues, even within the right wing camp that VIP represents. But that is the way of science. The world cannot come to a halt while we find out the ultimate truths.

Listed below are some topics that might be used to generate fliers (in PDF format), meant to be printed in whichever place you are located. They contain pithy arguments about why VIP promotes a particular objective. In due course, these fliers (not yet written) are intended to be translated into all the Indian languages and placed in PDF format for printing on any printer across the world.

Obviously this is a great task. We need all the help we can get, in researching, writing, designing and in publishing these fliers.
