Surprisingly, Indian polity today is multi-party but completely uni-polar, almost "homogeneous," being entirely to the left of center. No political group has any clue what is important for India. What Japan achieved over a 100 years ago (99% literacy) is not even a distant vision for most political groups which chant poorly understood socialistic mantras, hoping that poverty (garibi) will go away (hatao) by chanting thus.

All political parties today provide various shades of the left. Clearly there cannot be too many shades of yellow or pink. It is best to make the system bi-polar if possible, as is the case with the polity of most advanced democracies.

For most parties the internet is not the place to be. The place to be is rightly in the villages. But it is necessary for each party to show up on the web, today, if only to inform the growing body of Indians worldwide who have access to the internet about their ideologies. The time for "personality" based politics is hopefully going to come to an end in the next few decades, as it rightly should.

Hopefully also, the presence of easy communication will bring out the best among the educated Indians who can then participate more actively in public service. For participation in the polity of a nation should surely rank as the highest form of public service.

The Election Commission of India has created a List of registered political parties of India. The ECI has not provided links to these parties' web pages, though. We do that here, wherever available, for your convenience. We are also providing links to "fledgling" political groups including "virtual" parties, groups springing up on the internet claiming to have political intentions (much as VIP) ...

Please inform Sanjeev in case you find any other Indian poltical party (both real and virtual) with a web presence, which is not listed here.

Actually, there are at least three sets of poles required to represent Indian political parties: One, the ideological, the other, secular/non-secular and finally, the personality driven. For simplicity sake, however, only the ideological polarity is being used here.
